Late fighter Muhammad Ali of one of the most talented, graceful, controversial, athletic, and influential American figures of the 20th century. In June, 1963, freelance photojournalist Steve Schapiro was assigned by Sports Illustrated, to spent five days with the young Olympic champion boxer Cassius Clay at the tender age of 21, before he had even adopted the Muhammad Ali name. Ali is a collection of the photographers best images of the young fighter at home with his family and immersed in his community and neighborhood, many in print for the first time ever.
